Hi, my friends! It feels like summer has fully arrived in Raleigh, though to be honest, it’s been hot here for a minute. As the days heat up, we’ve gotten in a routine of getting outside in the morning, and I’m relishing what feels like the last of my days of Kai tolerating walks in his stroller. 😂
This year has felt like a year of taking things slow, whether that’s been enjoying time at home as a family, baking, or giving myself grace when I get a little behind on my YouTube uploads. In the spirit of slowing down, I have leaned into new hobbies and away from social media completely. I am way ahead on my reading goal for the year, which I am thrilled about haha, and as of today, my Duolingo streak is 92, so I am sure I will be fluent in Spanish by the end of the year. (lol) Another hobby that I am about to take up is sewing! I have had a hard time with clothes over the last few years. Either clothing is poor quality or expensive (or both?!) and never fits quite right. I was perusing Etsy and saw some beautiful linen clothing, but everything was pricy and the shops are based in Europe, so god speed if something didn’t fit right. So like any delusional person, I said to myself, “I can make that.” And my sewing dream was born. It feels like a pretty big commitment to get all the supplies needed to start sewing (namely, a sewing machine), but I am going to try it out and see how it goes. Part of the fun is learning, right?! I will be keeping you up to speed on my sewing journey over on my YouTube channel, and I can’t wait to share how it goes.
Today I am sharing some of my Raleigh recommendations because I just love it here so much. As always, I am more than happy to give recommendations for anywhere and anything, so feel free to reach out if you’d like to know something specific. Thank you for being here!

Let’s just get it out of the way: I love living in Raleigh! While it might not be a top-of-mind destination when planning your next trip, it really is a great small city with tons to offer as far as food, coffee, shopping, activities, and more. Plus everyone is so nice. 🥹 I wanted to share some of my favorite spots with you, just in case you ever get the chance to visit!
The North Carolina Museum of Art is a must-visit when in Raleigh. Not only is the art collection beautiful, but the museum sits on a 100+ acre park. Bring a picnic to enjoy before your walk through the museum!
The State Farmers Market is a great way to spend a weekend morning. This outdoor market is huge, with plenty of farmers to support as well as some restaurants and food vendors.
Local Shopping: Edge of Urge, Deco, Blackbird Books & Coffee, Unlikely Professionals, Unorthodox Vintage, Munjo Munjo
Shopping Malls/Centers: Fenton (outdoor; Cary), Village District (outdoor), Southpoint Mall (indoor and outdoor; closer to Durham), North Hills (outdoor)
Food & Coffee, arguably the most important things: K-Town Market, Standard, Gym Tacos, Transfer Co Food Hall, Jubala, Sola Coffee Cafe, Heirloom, Yellow Dog Bread Co, Boulted Bread

Nemahsis is an artist I’ve recently discovered and can’t stop listening to. Her album “Verbathim” is worth listening to in its entirety and my favorite song off it is “miss construed”. It is such a beautiful song, I cried the first time I heard it. I also love the song “stick of gum” and the corresponding music video that features her family in Palestine. 🤍

I am now fully caught up on Abby Jimenez books! I just finished her most recent release, Say You’ll Remember Me, and really enjoyed it!
I just stared First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston and I am fully invested, only two chapters in. 😂 Let’s follow each other’s reading journeys on Fable!
🍣 food things
A few recipes that have become staples in our house:
Crockpot Chicken Tacos- literally the easiest dinner to make! The chicken is always cooked perfectly, which is important to me as someone who can be weird about chicken. 😂
Fluffy Pancakes- my go-to recipe when I make my freezer stash for Kai.
Turkish Pide- a super easy, no-knead, authentic Turkish bread.
🫧 bits and bobs
I’ve been using the Prequel Half & Half Fluid Moisturizer and I LOVE IT. It’s currently sold out, but is rumored to be arriving at Target later this summer! I want to try their Vitamin C serum next.
